Pop-up gallery at Lola Luid

From spring to winter 2018 I launched a small Zakka Stories pop-up gallery at Lola Luid, with contemporary work by Dutch designers paired with antique and vintage objects. Each object carried a special story about material, craft and heritage and was meant to inspire visitors to look at objects with more attention.

The concept of the space was to pair work by contemporary designers with antique or vintage objects, and to change the selection every two months. Unfortunately I could only stay for a bit more than 2 months, as the location – a former high school building in Amsterdam New West – was marked as a temporary location for refugees. In this limited time frame I presented work by three Dutch designers:

  • Antoine Peters
  • Susan Bijl
  • Atelier NL

It was a first experiment with a curating a pop-up gallery space, and it definitely tastes like more. I hope to initiate more of such projects in the future.
